Biba Schutz is this very cool metalsmith that I just recently discovered in an issue of Ornament magazine. Her current body of work is very creepy and is much like seed pods that are burst open or empty cages no longer full. Sadly, she is very absent on the internet. I found her so exciting because not only does her current body of work look frighteningly similar to some drawings I’ve been doing lately, but a lot of her work draws inspiration from similar veins as I do (like plants), and it’s executed in a very dark and decaying way.


I’m here because I needed a place to organize and share the research I do to feed into my art and design projects. I learned in school that if you’re inspired and thoughtful, almost everything you do can be research. From google image searches to anthropology or medical books, I find myself on a never ending search for inspiration. Fortunately I rarely find myself disappointed in my quest.
