Inspirational Artist Sarah Hood

I’m really inspired by metalsmith Sarah Hood, who creates sculptural jewelry that look like little landscapes. I love her use of alternative materials (model railroad supplies) and the sense of wonderment and exploration that her pieces invoke.

Her Landscape Sample Necklace really pulls at my science geek sensibilities with the test tube-like specimens.

The Winter Tree Ring is a complete little landscape…

I really love the Root necklace and how we get to see above and below ground with her composition.

    beautiful! i always imagined if i made art again that i’d really like to create my own little world or landscapes as it may be. i picture them as intrusive little worlds jutting off of white walls, hanging from door jambs, that sort of thing.
