Mike Libby makes tiny sculptures that meld science with fantasy. I’m amazed at the precision required to create these tiny wonders:
Libby uses gears and parts from antique watches, sewing machines and typewriters in combination with all kinds of creepy insects. I love the preciousness that is evoked by the presence of the small metal components – I look at the little lady bug and think of gazing into my late uncle’s pocket watch. I also love the darker, dangerous element of a mechanical or even robotic presence he has fused with the insects. Check out more of these creations at Insect Lab.
